Dear Father…
I remember the day my little brother ran to you screaming
“Daddy, come pick me up!” with his arms out stretched and his smile wide and right then and there I knew that it was your arms where I should reside
You always provide
You made sure I was fed
roof over my head and clothes on my back
sending me off with a backpack full of hopes and dreams
when streams of tears rolled down my face your shoulders were like soft tissues
every bruise your hands were infused with gentleness and warmth
your arms were like big shields of protection
your words is what led me in the right direction
your stern looks is what gave me correction
your wisdom is like Solomon
your ability to lead like Moses
your faith in God like Abraham
and your capacity to love unconditionally like Christ
For you are the head
the umbrella of the household so when storms come and the house is uncontrolled you are the foundation that keeps a stronghold
a rock unto which I stand
Father
I remember the day my little brother ran to him screaming “Daddy, come pick me up!” with his arms out stretched and his smile so wide and I never thought it would be the day that I would do the same to abide in You
Oh God
I never knew what love was like till I met you
the greatest love story ever told
worth more than gold
In everything you have done
I thank you for your Son
that fed me through the light that He shined through the Sun
because I and my Father are One
there is none like you
a Father to the fatherless
because You never showed me less of what a Father should be so I never had to guess
So I will be the one reaching out my hands to You
screaming “Daddy, come pick me up!”
because you are my Father
and I am the clay
and your hands infused with gentleness and warmth is the work of a potter
and that is sufficient enough.
